A Series of Cathedral Seminars

A series of Cathedral Seminars to explore the issue of same
sex marriage: Should the church recognise and bless, or not?
Exploring the Biblical material: Wednesday 1 October 7.30pm
Dr Simon Taylor, Canon Chancellor and CME Officer, will explore the
Biblical material relevant to the discussions in the church.
The case for recognition: Monday 13 October at 7.30pm
Colin Coward, OBE, the Director of Changing Attitude, one of the leading
organizations in the church working for recognition of same sex marriage.
The case against recognition: Monday 5 November at 7.30pm
Dr Ian Paul, former tutor at St John’s College Nottingham, author, blogger
and commentator.
All the Seminars will take place in Derby Cathedral’s Retro Choir.
A presentation of about 30 minutes will be offered by each speaker, followed
by Q&A, then time for refreshments and informal discussion.
All will be very welcome at the Seminars as we explore together a
sensitive and engaging topic. Discernment will be testing – not least as we
listen to those whose perspectives are not our own. But only so will wisdom
be found.
The Very Revd Dr John Davies, Dean of Derby
