Enjoy a weekend of spooky fun at Cromford Mills on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th October, as part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site’s Discovery Days Festival.
Why not come dressed for the occasion as a witch, wizard or other Hallowe’en character and be entered into a free prize draw.
There will be the opportunity to meet a collection of animals including Bearded Dragons, Leopard Geckos, a Royal Python, a Bosc Monitor, Chinchillas, a Giant Sulcata Tortoise, White Tree Frogs, an African Pygmy Hedgehog, and more! There will also be the chance to handle some of the animals and learn all about these fascinating creatures.
For those who enjoy being creative with crafts, come along and make your own Hallowe’en lantern in drop in family workshops between 2pm-4pm. This will be followed by a lantern lit story walk around the mill yard…if you dare!
Throughout the weekend there will also be a spooky pumpkin trail to follow (find all the pumpkins and win a prize), as well as traditional games to play, storytelling, drawing workshops, face painting (11am-3pm), horse drawn boat trips and model boats on the Cromford Canal, a climbing wall… and lots more!
The events are part of a multi-million pound restoration of the Cromford Mills site funded by a Heritage Lottery Fund grant of £4 million. Other charitable donors towards the project include The Monument Trust, AIM Biffa Award, The Garfield Weston Foundation, J P Getty Jr Charitable Trust, Headley Trust, Sylvia Waddilove Foundation, The Wolfson Foundation, and the Architectural Heritage Fund.
The Spooky Fun weekend at Cromford Mills is free, although there will be a small charge for some of the activities. For further details please visit www.cromfordmills.org.uk or phone 01629 823256.
